Tree planting is an easy and effective way to help rejuvenate the soil of degraded land (desertification). In many developing countries planting trees is a means for local people to repair land degradation and start to provide a means for themselves to survive. ForestNation invests in tree planting projects around the world.

  • Haiti

    ForestNation is committed to help Haiti restore its degraded lands to sustainable productivity. Tree planting in Haiti is a fundamental part of this restoration and ForestNation is concentrating its efforts in the planting of trees to provide fruit, animal foder, construction materials and sustainable fuel wood for the local populations. The trees are integrated into the local agriculture and gardening systems. more details

    25% of Uganda’s surface area is covered by water. Most of Uganda’s land area is 1,000 meters above sea level. Semi-arid desert takes up the northeast, while the rest of country is dominated by forests and savannas. more details

    Ghana’s richness in natural resources plays a significant role in its strong economy, providing the country with over twice the per capita output than the poorer countries in West Africa. However, overexploitation and mismanagement of these resources and a general lack of environmental awareness threatens the country and its people. more details

    Cameroon's population is over 18 million people, of which over fifty percent is rural. Nearly fifty percent of the rural population is living in poverty. The majority of the people live in or around the country's 22 million hectares of forest. The people living in these areas are dependent on the forest resources for their livelihoods. more details
  • Ethiopia

    Generations of unsustainable land-use practices coupled with pressure from increasing population have led to severe land degradation in Ethiopia. This land degradation reduces agricultural productivity and fodder production for livestock, forcing people to farm and graze the land even more intensively to produce food, thereby contributing to a cycle of poverty. more details
  • Assam, West Bengal, Northwest India and Bangladesh

    While almost one million acres of land in Assam, West Bengal, and other regions in Northwest India and Bangladesh get flooded regularly, the people of Tamil Nadu in southeastern India, 1000 miles away from the flood zones, are struggling with drought and a lack of fresh water. more details

    Providing the seeds, equipment, training, and monitoring. In return, community groups are responsible for growing, watering, planting, and looking after the trees once they are planted. Tree planting occurs in areas immediately surrounding each community group, so that the people who have volunteered receive a direct benefit from their labour. more details
